Senapati, July 13 2016:
The Naga Peoples' Front, Manipur State in a statement has defended the decision of its MLAs to resign over the three Bills and also reiterated its stance to abstain from all political party meeting on ILPS issue in the interest of protecting tribal rights.
A press statement issued by NPF-MSU general secretary Robert T Maram said that the decisions were taken during its executive meeting held on July 12 at 1 pm at Imphal .
The meeting which was attended by party's MLAs, advisors, ADC Chairmen and Executive Members had threadbare discussions and resolved to abstain from so called All Political Party Manipur meeting regarding the three 'anti-tribals,' 'anti-Constitutional and undemocratic' proposed Bills.
The party has taken the decision taking into account all the attitudes and outlooks of Ibobi's Government towards the tribals in the past many years.
"The party sees the developments of having all political party meeting as mending the shattered house of Ibobi as they could not shoulder the responsibilities of ruling the State," it said.
The party also reiterated its support to the stand of its four MLAs who had tendered their resignations in protest against the present 'confused
State Government under confused leaders' .
As the State Government has totally failed to acknowledge the tribal sentiments, NPF has been protesting on behalf of all tribals in Manipur against the three 'antipeople's and anti-tribals' Bills.
The Congress Government instead of seeking justices has continuously insulted the tribal sentiments by re-introducing the same Bills for which 9 tribals have given their lives and still honourable burials are yet to taken place.
The NPF asserted that any insult and injustices to tribals or other communities are against the ethics of NPF and shall not be tolerated under any circumstances.
NPF is a political party well known in the country for its rigid stand on justices and against any vices in the society, it said while pledging to continue to stand for tribals and their rights.
