MPCC bids adieu to Malue

Even as the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) gave their last respects to former Ukhrul ADC Vice-Chairman Nga-langzar Malue at Congress Bhavan, eight suspects were rounded up in connection with his killing in a raid conducted at Ukhrul town in the wee hours today.
Ngalangzar Malue (60) of Nongman village was gunned down by suspected militants at Finch Corner in Ukhrul district at around 11.30 am yesterday.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi led Ministers, MLAs, ADC Members, Congress workers and others in bidding adieu to the departed ADC Vice-Chairman.
O Ibobi said that killing of a public leader in such a brutal way was against humanity.
Terming the incident as demonic, the Chief Minister said that in consultation with his Council of Ministers, necessary security measures would be taken up to deter similar attacks in future.
Maintaining that such incidents are intolerable, O Ibobi said that the Government was hoping that the armed groups would come to their senses one day.
However, it does not happen till date and the Government would not remain as a silent spectator when such brutal killings are carried out whether in valley or hill areas, he added.
Informing that adequate personnel of police commandos, IRB and MR were immediately sent to the district under a strict directive to reach the targeted areas before midnight, the Chief Min- ister expressed hope that the culprits would be booked soon.
Ibobi added that eight suspects were rounded up in a raid conducted in the wee hours today and all of them have been brought to Imphal for questioning.
The Chief Minister also prayed to Almighty for the soul of the departed to rest in eternal peace.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam said that it was really shocking to learn that Malue's ailing mother died after hearing the news of her son's death.
Saying that eight suspects have been rounded up in connection with the incident so far, Gaikhangam said that the Central Government would be apprised of the situation in case any armed outfit which is currently on peace parleys with the Government is found involved in the incident.
He added that mobile phones, one walkie-talkie set and incriminating documents were seized from the possession of the arrested persons.
