Titular King, Governor, BJP greet people on Ningol Chakouba

Titular king of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba greeted the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Ningol Chakouba.
In a message, Leishemba Sanajaoba said, "May the festival which has been celebrated since time immemorial brings peace, unity, development and end crimes and violence in Manipur." He also appealed all not to take part in the "competition culture" on gifts and presents which had brought shame to the dignity of the festival.
Manipur Governor V Shanmuganathan has extended his warm greetings to people from all walks of life in the State especially to those married womenfolk on the auspicious occasion of Ningol Chakouba.
In a message, the Governor said, "Ningol Chakouba" is a unique festival of the Meetei community celebrated every year with great joy and happiness.
"Ningol Chakouba is observed on the second day of the New Moon of the Manipuri month Hiyangei (October-November) and on the day the married sisters are invited over by the brothers to a feast at their parental homes and given Dakshina," said the message.
The Governor added that "this festival is celebrated in all the Meetei families, rich and poor alike and these intimate and nostalgic moments strengthen the bond of love and affection between brothers and sisters." The role of the festival significantly stands out as it helps in keeping the social fabric intact.
"It is a very positive development that other communities also have appreciated the ethos of this festival and have taken to celebrating this festival with fervor," said the message.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manipur Pradesh also greeted the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Ningol Chakouba which strengthens the bond between the various communities and wished that the festival bring peace, unity, development and prosperity.
CPI (ML), Libration Manipur State Committee and founder of Seinik Academy, S Manaoton also extended their greetings to all the people of Manipur on the occasion of the Ningol Chakouba festival.
