Imphal, February 12 2022:
The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) observed its 29th foundation day at Kwa-keithel Akham Leikai, today.
The programme was attended by AMUCO presi- dent Ph Nando Luwang, advisor Ito Tongbram and Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Lup vice president S Memcha as presidium members.
At the event, Nando Luwang said that AMUCO was floated in 1993 to save the territorial integrity of Manipur and to maintain cordial relationship among the people.
He said that some sections of people have been working in the interest of only their communities after falling in the trap of the Government of India but their works will not yield any positive result.
Nando further stated that AMUCO will not remain a mute spectator whenever there is a threat to the integrity of the State but respond to it befittingly.

Claiming that the Government of India has been consistently striving to create divisions among the people through different tactics and the same is becoming more evident since 1993, the AMUCO president maintained that people of Manipur, however, responded to such ploys sensibly.
Before 1993, there were no instances of women (Meira Paibi) standing guard at the candidates' houses at the time of Assembly election, he said and added, "It would be prudent to study why such a practice is becoming apparent now.
Saying that enmity created during the time of election has a lasting effect and it obstructs in putting up a collective fight to safeguard the State, Nando asserted that people making a fuss out of election and harbouring hostilities is not wise as it only divides people.
He then appealed to put an end to the political system which only divides people.
AMUCO general secretary Dr Norendro Thok- chom also spoke at the event.
He said that enforcement of AFSPA 1958 and continuous extension of "Dis- turbed Area Status" are some indications that the Government at Delhi doesn't listen to the people of Manipur and is trying to suppress the revolutionary movement through might.
He also maintained that the chronic issues of Manipur can only be solved through political means.
"Peace and development will always be a distant dream as long as AFSPA prevails," he added.
