Imphal, June 11 2011:
Kuki Inpi Saikul has expressed strong concern over the rundown condition of Imphal-Saikul road saying that if it does not receive the immediate attention it deserves there is a high possibility that Saikul Block will soon be cut-off from the rest of the world, reports NNN.
Kuki Inpi Saikul is very much concerned over the deteriorating condition of Imphal-Saikul road, said a statement made available to Newmai News Network by its president Thangkam Lupheng, while adding that the stretch between Gangpijang and Ekou is the worst affected.
Due to problems arising out of the award of work order, the ongoing upgradation works along Imphal-Saikul have been stalled for the few days.
The stretch between Gangpijang and Ekou is the worst affected, Lupheng said.
Incessant rain in the past 2-3 days have caused havoc in the movement of light vehicles and if immediate remedial works are not carried out on the road there is a high possibility that the movement of heavy vehicles will be affected, therefore completely and effectively cutting off Saikul Block from the rest of the world, he added.
"Therefore, we draw the attention of the Government and urge them to take up immediate and necessary action in the interest of the general public in order to avoid unwanted accidents along this route," said the Kuki Inpi, Saikul leader.
