Addressing the media in this regard at the complex of Rising Knowledge Club at Khoyathong today, TPLMPL executive member Sundari Loitongbam said that Debala, the deceased, had been receiving prenatal care and going for regular check ups at Hillside Charitable Hospital and Research Centre since the early stages of her pregnancy.
The press briefing was also attended by the husband and family members of the deceased.
She said that both Debala and the unborn child were healthy as per the doctors.
Debala visited the hospital on February 9 for a check-up due to discomfort in her back.
However, instead of giving proper care and attention, the hospital staff remained indifferent, Sundari alleged.
After visiting the hospital on February 9, Debala was examined by a doctor, who prescribed some medicines and then sent her back home, she further claimed.
Saying that Debala was rushed to the hospital again on the same day as she complained of breathing difficulties, Sundari maintained that the oxygen level of the woman reduced drastically while she was at the hospital.
Despite this critical deterioration, the hospital failed to administer oxygen to Debala on the ground they didn't have any oxygen supply, she claimed.
Asking how the hospital has been operating without any oxygen supplies, Sundari said that Debala's life might have been saved had she been administered oxygen.
Claiming that Debala and the unborn child died because of medical negligence, she urged the relevant authorities to cancel the license of the Hillside Charitable Hospital and Research Centre.
Saying that they have lodged a complaint with Lamphel police station pertaining to the incident, Sundari urged the authorities concerned to investigate the incident and deliver justice.
