CM asks MLAs to host lunch at relief camps

Chief Minister N Biren Singh attended "Tiranga Concert", a part of Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at Manipur State Film Development Society, Palace Compound, Imphal today.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chief Minister appealed to the people of the State to volunteer in cleaning the statues of the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the motherland and pay floral tributes.
"The freedom and dignified life we are enjoying today are because of the selfless sacrifices made by our great leaders," N Biren said.
He further appealed to all the Ministers and MLAs to organise lunch at relief camps on Independence Day and have it together with the inmates.

He asked all the elected representatives to talk with the inmates to address the problems and grievances.
The Chief Minister maintained that a sense of natio- nalism and patriotism has aroused amongst the people of the country after Naren-dra Modi became Prime Minister in 2014 .
It was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who took Yoga to the international level through his address at the United Nations General Assembly, he said.
Under the Prime Minister's initiative, G20 events were held across the country.
Delegates from different countries visited various corners of the country.
The initiative brought a sense of belongingness amongst the people, he said.
N Biren continued that the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign has also brought a sense of nationalism, unity, and oneness among the people.
He instructed the Director General of Police to conduct a motorbike rally on August 15 inviting mass participation from youths.
He also appealed to the people of Manipur to participate in rallies, street plays, marathons and painting competitions being organised under the campaign.
Appreciating Principals, officials, and the students of colleges in the State for singing the National Anthem and State song during morning assembly sessions, he said this initiative has instilled a sense of unity, discipline, and nationalism amongst the students.
"Unity, discipline and nationalism are the foundation of a strong Nation.
We must strengthen our Nation to become self-reliant," he said.
During the function, Pung Cholom by the artistes of Manipur University of Culture, patriotic song by artistes of Shri Shri Bal Mukund Dev Music College and a dance choreographed on Tiranga Anthem by the Government Dance College were showcased.
The programme, organised by the Department of Art and Culture, was attended by Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Water Resource Minister Awangbow Newmai, Information Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh, Public Distribution Minister Leishangthem Susindro Meitei, Veterinary Minister Kashim Vashum, MLAs, DGP Rajiv Singh, Administrative Secretaries, officials of the Art and Culture Department and renowned artistes of the State.
