MPA celebrates raising day

The 29th raising day of the Manipur People's Army (MPA) was celebrated exten-sively across the State and beyond yesterday.
According to a statement issued by M Sak-hen, Director, Dept of Publicity, UNLF, the MPA raising day celebration programme was held at MPA general headquarters, central headquarters, battalions, the outfit's units located inside and outside Manipur along with the public.
The outfit also expressed gratitude to all concerned who extended moral and physical supports for the success of the programme.
Chief of Army Staff of the MPA graced the 29th raising day celebration programme at the outfit's general headquarters.
Secretaries, directors, staff officers of different departments of the outfit, cadres of varied ranks and files attended the celebration pro- gramme at the UNLF central headquarters, which was graced by MAC chairman and chairman of the UNLF, Kh Pambei as the chief guest, it said.
The celebration was also held amidst gaiety at 293 bn and 241 bn with their respective COs.
I Tonsana, Vice CAS attended the celebration func- tion at MPA's 291 unit.
The outfit's general secretary, Ph Yaimachou, secretary of dept of Minorities Affairs, Ch Thanil, family welfare secretary Y Tamphajao attended the MPA raising day celebration programme at a location outside the Manipur along with other staff officers and cadres, it added.
Local members and volunteers joined the 29th MPA raising day celebration at unit headquarters in the district level.
Unfurling of MPA flag, offering floral tribute to departed 'patriots' and those civilians who lost their lives in the torturous hands of the adversaries, observance of two-minute silence, reading out of MAC and CS messages and pledge to carry forward the spirit of dedication towards the realisation of the goal of the movement were the highlights of the MPA raising day celebration yesterday, the statement added.
