Oinam Indira joins race for BJP ticket

After Dr RK Ranjan has been hinted by the BJP State unit as a prospective party candidate for the Lok Sabha election in Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, Oinam Indira who contested the last Assembly election on BJP ticket said that she is fully confident of securing BJP ticket for the Lok Sabha election.
Oinam Indira contested the last Assembly election in Thoubal AC against Chief Minister O Ibobi.
Indira is a noted NGO leader and a founder of Women Income Generation Centre (WIGC) which is working for empowerment of women.
She is also a successful entrepreneur and is running many micro level agro based industries.
She was awarded the Prof Yashwanta Shelter Yuva Puruskar in 2008 for her successful entrepreneurship.
Dr RK Ranjan who is currently working as Senior Visiting Fellow in Geography Department, MU is also vying for BJP ticket.
Nonetheless, Indira claimed that she chalked out her poll strategy and has already launched election campaign.
She said that she would open her election office at Keishamthong where there is large concentration of people belonging to Oinam clan.
Out of the 25 MP seats available in the North East region, eight seats have been reserved for women.
Moreover 33 per cent seats are reserved for women in the appointment of party's office bearers.
Like Indira in Manipur, Vijaya Chakravarty is vying for BJP ticket in Assam for the Lok Sabha election.
Claiming that six seats reserved for women are still vacant, Indira said that she would certainly get BJP ticket.
Indira who is also BJP State unit secretary, National executive committee member and chairperson of the party's industry cell said that she has already consulted and sought support of some political parties, including both national as well as regional parties.
As a result of her relentless efforts, 27 BJP candidates got elected in the last local body election.
Indira said that she would fight the MP election on the plank of women and children's welfare and youth policy.
"Notwithstanding the 22 sitting Congress MLAs spread across 32 Assembly segments of the valley districts, I've chalked out my poll strategy in order to defeat any Congress candidate", Indira said.
