Thadou Inpi, TSA decry 'communal' tag on CM

Imphal, June 09 2022: Strongly negating the charge that Chief Minister N Biren is anti-tribal for the recent spate of actions initiated, the Thadou Inpi and Thadou Students' Association have asserted that the such a tag is baseless and without foundation.

Speaking to newsmen at Manipur Press Club today general secretary of Thadou Students' Association, Michael Haokip said that the BJP led Government in its second stint in power has launched a massive drive against drugs and corruption.

All these are efforts to better the lot of the people, he said and added that credit for this should go to Chief Minister N Biren.

To extend gratitude, a felicitation programme organised by Thadou Inpi is scheduled for tomorrow at Brig Thomas Ground at Kangpokpi, where the Chief Minister would be present.

Despite the positive works taken up it is unfortunate that some elements have dubbed the Chief Minister as being anti-tribals, said the student leader and added that nothing can be more mischievous than this.

At such a juncture when the Government is making efforts to curb social ills, it should be the bounden duty of everyone to reciprocate and ensure a conducive atmosphere, he added.

No room should be created to sow seeds of suspicion amongst the different communities, he declared.

The student leader also urged all the people to attend the programme at Brig Thomas Ground tomorrow.

Michael Haokip urged the people not to provoke anyone over the arrest to Mark Haokip, who is in police custody.

Altogether 7 FIRs have been lodged against Mark, he said and added that the law should be allowed to take its own course of action.
