Drugs, cash seized; five apprehended

Imphal/CCPur, April 09 2022: A special commando unit of Khabeisoi, Narcotic Cell Imphal East and Chura-chandpur police seized a large consignment of con-traband drugs and cash from three different locations viz; Kangpokpi, Imphal East and Churachandpur yesterday.

A team of Churachand-pur police on Friday seized a good amount of suspected opium along with several lakhs in cash from two people at around 4:50 pm.

Reportedly, at least police two teams headed by OC Churachandpur Inspector N Ingocha, under the instruction and supervision of district SP Shivanand Surve were on a look-out on receiving inputs that one white Bolero transporting opium was on the move.

The vehicle with two occupants was intercepted in front of Churachandpur police station, barely 20 minutes after receiving the inputs.

On proper verification, the police team found a plastic packet containing substances suspected to be opium hidden behind the driver's seat.

The opium weighs around 6.285 kg.

A stash of cash amounting to Rs 2.6 lakh was also seized from the two occupants, who have been identified as Hoikim Suante (40), w/o (Late) Ngaipu Suante of Pangzawl Village and Seikhohao Guite (42) s/o Hemlun Guite of V Munhoih village.

In the follow up action, another plastic packet containing 970 gram of opium and Rs 5 lakh were also seized from the house of the arrested woman.

A case has been registered at Churachandpur police station.

According to credible information, a special commando unit of Khabeisoi also arrested one 35 years old man along with nine soap cases containing brown sugar, 19 small (Khaini) cans containing opium, 20 packets of WY tablet each containing 200 pieces, 9 mobile handsets and Rs 2700 in cash from Motbung Pangmol yesterday at around 8 pm.

The arrested person has been identified as Paomilen Haokip, s/o Otmang Haokip of Moreh Ward no 9 Tengnoupal.

He has been handed over to Sapermeina police station along with the seized drug which is worth around Rs 2,50,25,500 in the international market.

In another case, a team of Narcotic Cell, Imphal East arrested two teenagers along with one soap cap containing 12 gram of heroin yesterday at around 8.20 pm from Sangakpham near DAV School.

The persons arrested along with heroin have been identified as Serto David (19), s/o Serto Michael Kom of Nungkot Kom, Senapati and VS Chuimui (19), s/o Vashim Jonhbos of Namlee Village, Kamjong district.

The arrested persons have been handed over to Heingang police station along with the seized heroin.
