Blaming the absence of specialist doctors in Ukhrul District Hospital over the death of a young girl last night, a one hour total bandh was observed today from 1pm to 2pm at Ukhrul headquarters.
A 16 year old girl died last night after she was discharged from Ukhrul District Hospital on Tuesday.
Doctors there discharged her after treating her for three days.
The girl was admitted to the hospital following complaint of fever.
She again complained of fever on Wednesday night.
The girl breathed her last on her way to Imphal last night.
Peeved over the alleged absence of specialist doctors in Ukhrul district hospital that reportedly led to the death of the girl, angry Ukhrul public observed a one-hour bandh today to protest the absence of specialist Doctors.
Various civil society organisations have aired angst and grievances over the alleged absence of specialist doctors in Ukhrul and the alleged negligence of the hospital by the authority concerned .
Health care or lack of it has been one of the major cause of concerns in the hill districts and lack of specialist doctors in the district headquarters is a long pending issue.
