Naga CSOs to meet Karbis, Ahoms

The Naga civil societies have resolved to hold people-to-people dialogue with the Karbi civil societies, the Peace Forum and Ahoms as a move to ease the Rengma-Karbi ethnic tension.
The Naga frontal organisations under the banner of the Naga Hoho discussed the matter in Dimapur today.
The Naga civil societies under the aegis of Naga Hoho shall meet the Karbi Civil societies/Peace Forum and Ahoms at the earliest to have people-people dialogue in order to bring the situation into normalcy in Rengma Hills, the Naga Hoho stated after the meeting.
As scheduled, the Naga civil society organisations meeting was held today at Unity Hall, Naga Council Dimapur under the aegis of Naga Hoho.
The meeting was well attended by Nagaland Baptist Church Council, Naga Mothers' Association, Naga Council Dimapur, Naga Students' Federation, Dimapur Naga Students' Union and Naga Peoples' Movement for Human Rights.
The meeting was convened to deliberate upon the tension between the Karbis and the Naga Rengmas.
After a threadbare discussion, the meeting also resolved unanimously that appeal shall be made to the Assam Government to treat both the Karbis and Rengmas equally in terms of providing relief materials to the displaced persons and ex-gratia payment to the deceased.
The Naga civil societies under the aegis of Naga Hoho shall meet the Karbi civil societies/peace forum and Ahoms at the earliest to have people-people dialogue in order to bring the situation into normalcy in Rengma hills.
Henceforth, the individuals and different Naga organizations should not meet the Kabi civil societies and others se- parately without the knowledge of the joint Naga civil societies and all types of relief materials should be handed over collectively, the meeting further resolved.
While deliberating on the larger political issues in regards to Karbi-Naga imbroglio, it was resolved to address the issues politically in the near future.
