Imphal, February 07 2022:
Categorically stating that any further BJP rule would put the future of Manipur is serious jeopardy, CLP leader and ex-Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has asserted that the people ought not to trust the saffron party.
Ibobi was speaking at a function held at Congress Bhavan here today where former MLA of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC RK Anand was again taken into the fold of Congress party.
Ibobi claimed that Congress party's popularity has been growing both in India and Manipur and the party's growing popularity would be reflected unmistakeably in the results of the Assembly elections of five States.
The masses are now aware of BJP's deceitful cheap propaganda.
As such, BJP would not be able to fool the masses any longer, said the CLP leader.

He then questioned how many of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's promises to the people have been fulfilled.
Noting that many Ministers of the BJP-led Central Government visited the State quite often, Ibobi asked if they did anything worthwhile for the State.
Saying that the double-engine Government of BJP was leading the people to a dark future during the past five years, Ibobi called upon all the people to vote for Congress and its allies in order to uproot BJP from the soil of Manipur.
RK Anand said that Congress party is the only political party which can bring positive changes and revive democracy in Manipur and India.
He said that he re-joined Congress party with the 'one-line agenda' of replacing the BJP-led Govern- ment.
It would be correct to look back and see during which rule AFSPA was lifted from seven Assembly segments of Imphal and Kangla was handed over to the people of Manipur.
AICC Manipur in-charge Bhakta Charan Das, AICC Minority Department former Chairman Imran Kidwai, MPCC president N Loken, CWC Member Gaikhangam, MLAs K Ranjit, K Meghachandra and Congress candidate in Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC Dr S Manaoton too attended the function.
In another meeting at Thoubal Okram Ibobi categorically asked what positive changes the BJP led Governments in the Centre and the State have brought to Manipur in the last five years.
Addressing a flag hoisting ceremony of INC candidate Moirangthem Hemanta at Tentha Khong-bal today, Ibobi further stated that the frequent visit of Central leaders in the State is perplexing the people of Manipur as they only spread false propaganda using their double engine narrative instead of bringing developmental packages.
Saying that this double engine is only taking back Manipur, the former Chief Minister appealed all to support Manipur Progressive Secular Alliance (MPSA) in the election so as to take the State forward.
MPSA was formed by six non-BJP parties Congress, CPI, CPI(M), Forward Bloc, RSP and JD (S) for the February-March Assembly poll in Manipur.
Has Wangjing Tentha MLA Paonam Brojen done anything worthwhile for his Constituency other than switch allegiance, Ibobi asked and urged the people of the Constituency to teach a befitting lesson to P Brojen in the ensuing election.
Saying that the Congress had already completed 80 percent of Manipur Secretariat building construction when the party was at the helm, Ibobi added that the BJP is not able to complete the remaining 20 percent in five years.
Former Minister Moirangthem Hemanta said that the 2022 Assembly election is very crucial to defeat the BJP which is infamous for violating human rights and suppressing freedom of expression.
"It is time the people repose their faith in the alliance of six political parties to save the State from the dictatorial BJP," he added.
