Imphal, August 06 2024: A minor girl was killed while four persons were injured as a tragic landslide struck a family at Ahmedabad Part-I under Jiribam police station at around 3.20 am today.

The deceased has been identified as Nurmona Begum (7), d/o Ajibur Rahaman.

She was buried under landslide debris.

According to sources, the debris fell on a house belonging to Ajibur Rahman, killing the minor and leaving four other persons injured.

Other family members of Ajibur Rahaman who were injured in the devastating landslide are his 8 year old daughter Sumita Begum, 16 year old son Md Selim Uddin, 18 year old daughter Gulsana and wife Rani Begum (34) .

The injured persons were evacuated from the spot by the locals and police personnel.

While three of them are undergoing treatment at Jiribam district hospital, Sumita Begum has been transferred to Silchar Medical Hospital as her condition is critical.

On July 29, a young woman and her infant son were also killed when a heavy mudslide struck their house at Dimthanlong village in Tamenglong.
