Sadar Hills all set to enforce KSDC strike

Sadar Hills is all set to enforce the Kuki State Demand Committee (KSDC) decision to resume/intensify general strike from 5 am of July 8 to 5 pm of July 9 and economic blockade till 5 pm of July 11 along National Highway 2 within Sadar Hills.
Convenor of KSDC Sadar Hills, Chonkam Kipgen, who is also the Chairman of Kanggui Town Committee said, "The proposed general strike and economic blockade by Kuki State Demand Committee to put more pressure on the Government for a peaceful solution for the Kuki community will be endorsed along National Highway-2 within Sadar Hills" .
Chonkam added,"Except media/press and medical related activities, which are exempted by the committee from the purview of the stir, business activities, Government and private educational institutions and all Government offices within Sadar Hills will remain closed during the agitation" .
He further said that movement of all types of vehicles, mainly those transporting goods and essential items would be banned during the economic blockade on National Highway 2 connecting Imphal from 5 pm of July 9 to till 5 pm of July 11" .
Recounting repeated failure on the part of the Government on several Kuki community related issues, Chonkam said, "All village chiefs along National Highway-2 within Sadar Hills numbering about 50 recently held a meeting at Kanggui town where it was decided to unanimously support the proposed KSDC general strike and economic blockade within Sadar Hills" .
The chiefs also consented to chalk out the best effective activities to enforce the agitation during the stir, he added.
The KSDC Convenor and KSDC Sadar Hills Committee General Secretary J Guite, who also hold the Vice Chairman's post of Kanggui Town Committee, warned every individual including businessmen, headmasters/headmistress, principals, heads of concerned government offices as well as drivers and bus owners and association etc not to infringe the decision of the committee during the stir.
Any violation of bandh call must bear all responsibilities of any untoward incidents, they warned.
They appealed to all like-minded individuals, social organizations, well-wishers, supporters to support the endorsement of KSDC general strike and economic blockade for the cause of the Kuki community.
