7 teachers receive State awards, Radheshyam dwells on NEP

The State Level Teachers' Day celebration was held today at the conference hall of Samagra Shiksha at Babupara with Education Minister Thokchom Radhesyam attending the function as the chief guest.
The function which was jointly organised by the Education Department and Samagra Shiksha, Manipur was also attended by Education (S) Commissioner T Ranjit Singh and Director L Nandakumar as the president and guest of honor respectively.

Speaking at the function Radheshyam said the new National Education Policy (NEP) mentioned against transfer of teachers without valid reasons and also utilization of teachers in non-teaching activities like election duty, census survey etc.
Improvement in the service environment of teachers is also clearly mentioned in the new policy, he said.
He appealed to the people to respect their parents and teachers to make the society a better place to live.
"Without the teachers, human civilisation is impossible.
A teacher teaches us not only skills and subjects but also values, discipline, manners and good thoughts.
"Teacher teach us from childhood until we become a responsible member of society.
Teachers make IAS, IPS, doctors, engineers etc.
A society will only prosper when we respect our teachers by understanding their role in making a better society.
"Once upon a time, the status of teachers was very high in India and Manipur in particular.
Whenever a discussion takes place about the good and bad in a society, teachers used to be the one to approach for opinion.
Functions were attended by teachers as important persons," the Education Minister said.
"We should always respect our parents and teachers for the betterment of our society," he added.
State Teachers' Award 2020 were presented to seven teachers during the function.
They are: Headmistress-in-charge of PK Upper Primary School, Imphal East Moirangthem Thoibi Devi; Headmaster-in-charge of Kumbipukhri High School, Churachandpur L Khupkhothang Khongsai; Vice Principal of Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, Bishnupur Khwairakpam Sanayaima Singh; Headmaster-in-charge of Chajing Mairenkhong Upper Primary School, Imphal West Bramacharimayum Romeo Sharma; Headmaster-in-charge of Khunthoknganbi Upper Primary School, Imphal West Thongam Ajitkumar Singh; Headmaster of Senapati Aided Junior High School, Senapati Khundrakpam Warjit Singh and Primary Teacher of Tekcham Girls Upper Primary School, Thoubal Khangembam Kanhai Singh.
