Imphal, November 04 2023:
As Kuki militants have clearly vio-lated the ground rules of the Suspension of Operation (SoO), strict actions must be taken against them and the pact should be abrogated, said L Sotinkumar, former secre-tary of Manipur State Coun- cil, CPI.
Speaking to reporters at Irawat Bhavan today, L Sotinkumar said the militants have clearly violated the ground rules of the SoO agreement as they were missing from their designated camps in Moreh.
The Central Government must take strict actions against the militants and abrogate the SoO pact, he said.
L Sotinkumar said the Government should abrogate the SoO pact and rein in the Kuki militants to curb all forms of violence and restore normalcy in Manipur.
The Communist Party of India strongly condemns the war being waged against civilians by SoO militants with the support of narco-terrorists and the killing of SDPO Moreh Chingtham Anand Kumar in Moreh recently, he said.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ch Anand Kumar was shot dead with a sniper in Moreh on October 31 when he was overseeing the construction of a helipad at Eastern Shine Ground.
The Central Government has not acted even after the SDPO was murdered in broad daylight.
The Prime Minister and the Home Minister have not spoken a word on the incident, said L Sotinkumar.
Even though it has been established that the present conflict has the hands of external forces, the Centre has not yet taken any decisive steps to resolve the conflict.
The conflict has completed six months without a solution.
The Centre must take action.
It should discuss the issue in the Parliament, he said.
On the other hand, the 10 Kuki MLAs who have openly sought separate administration for Kukis should be dismissed immediately.
Legal action should be taken against all of them, L Sotinkumar said.
He also questioned the Centre's silence on the issue of the separate administration.
CPI leaders will soon meet the Governor, the Chief Minister and MPs on the issue, he said.
