Imphal, September 04 2020:
The NSCN/GPRN team led by its chairman Q Tuccu and vice-chairman Tongmeth Wangnao held a consultative meeting with leaders of Nagaland Gaon Bura Federation (NGBF) led by its president Shahlem Konyak and general secretary Shikuto Zalipu today at Naithu Resort in Dimapur, Nagaland on the ongoing Indo-Naga peace process.
The meeting assumes significance in the backdrop of the fact that recently, the NGBF had been critical of Muivah and the NSCN (IM) and had vetoed the demand that the Interlocutor, RN Ravi be changed.
Backing Ravi's role, the Gaon Bura had said, "NGBF observes that the demand for replacement of Interlocutor is unjust and untenable due to the fact that he is also the GOI Interlocutor with other negotiating groups".
According to a statement, issues pertaining to Naga political affairs and the need to bring together all the warring Naga political groups were discussed in great length during the meeting.
Appreciating each other's efforts and contribution towards finding a political settlement for the Naga people, it was resolved to strengthen the on-going Indo-Naga peace talk and seek an honourable, acceptable and lasting solution.
"The cry for reconciliation and unity within the Naga family must be respected.
Therefore, the effort to bring together all the Naga political groups should be pursued with all seriousness in the larger political interest of the Naga people," the statement read.
