Rape alleged, cops pull up two accused

Lamphel police have reportedly pulled up two persons for their alleged involvement in kidnapping and outraging the modesty of a 14-year old girl on New Year's night.
While Lamphel police declined to divulge further details on the two accused persons, the victim's grand-mother told mediapersons at RIMS Hospital campus today that perpetrators of the criminal acts are residents of Dewlahlane and Nagaram areas.
The victim was brought to the hospital for medical examination.
Sharing her grand-daughter's ordeal the elderly woman said the victim girl was whisked away by the two in a silver colour Alto car from near Rongmei Naga Baptist Church campus in Happy Valley Tarung Langol at around 1 am of January 1 .
The victim girl accompanied by a female friend was returning home after attending the mid-night service when the incident occurred, said the grand-mother adding that her friend was momentarily away to respond to nature's call when the two accused persons grabbed the victim girl and drove away.
After committing the crime at separate places in Nagaram and Dewlahlane, the victim was abandoned near the Namdulong Church.
Consequent to a complaint filed by the victim's party at Lamphel police station on January 2, one of the accused was rounded up on the same night from Dewlahlane with the second apprehended today morning from Punshi Sangaithel Rehabilitation Centre.
The victim, who would be in class X this year, is the eldest of two siblings.
