Imphal, December 02 2019:
Zeliangrong Civil Organizations (ZCOs) has strongly condemned the publication of 'Nagalim Calendar 2020' by the Ministry of information and publicity, NSCN (IM) which included an alleged distorted history of Naga political journey by ignoring Haipou Jadonang's sacrifice.
A statement issued by the media and publicity cell of Zeliangrong Civil Organisations (ZCOs) conveyed that none can deny Haipou Jadonang was the founder and pioneer of the Naga political movement for which the mighty British administration even gave him the title of Naga Raj.
Pointing out that there was no one like Haipou Jadonang in the Naga political history, it stated that Haipou Jadonang's supreme sacrifice for the Naga cause and to secure a better future for the people as well as the political movement which has been continuing for decades with maximum participation, involvement and immense contribution by the Zeliangrong people, was the force which helped NSCN (IM) gain massive support and popularity in the past.
However, it alleged that the NSCN (IM) attempts to conceal the facts and dishonour the supreme sacrifice of Haipou Jadonang resulted in failure of NSCN (IM) to command the Naga people socially and politically and as such, NSCN (IM) has now resorted to selling calendars which distort the genuine Naga political history in a desperate attempt to gain some popularity and earn some profit in the name of Naga political journey.
This is quite cheap and ridiculous, it lamented, urging the Naga people not to allow such distortion of their political history or to be misled easily.
The ZCOs appealed to the people, particularly the Zeliangrong people, to be cautious and not fall victims to such lies.
It conveyed that whoever respect and honour the supreme sacrifice of Haipou Jadonang and value the sacred Naga political history, should refrain from purchasing the Nagalim Calendar 2020 of NSCN (IM).
It is the collective responsibility of leaders of the Churches, women's societies, religious leaders, village leaders, youth, students and public to reject such distortion of Naga political history, it added.
