Election of party president MPP caught in internal wrangling

Manipur People's Party (MPP) which is one of the oldest regional parties in the entire North East region is plagued with internal conflicts on account of differences of opinions and dissension regarding election of a new party president.
Even as the party is preparing to hold a mega conference for election of a new party president at 11 am tomorrow, a press release issued by MPP vice-president N Ojit said that AK Sanaton has been elected the party's president.
According to the press release, a general conference held at the residence of N Singhajit at Yaiskul Janmasthan on January 30 elected AK Sanaton as MPP president for the term 2016-19.The election was held with L Apabi as SRO.
On the other hand, incumbent president N Sovakiran has asserted that election of AK Sanaton as the party's new president is null and void.
He went on to say that AK Sanaton, L Apabi and N Ojit have been expelled from the party on graft charges.
They don't hold any post in the organisational set up of the party.
Meanwhile, information received by press revealed that the mega conference scheduled tomorrow would declare N Sovakiran as MPP president for another term.
