Imphal, July 31 2016:
Alleging negligence of the State Government in initiating developmental activities in Tamenglong district, former Minister from Tamenglong AC Samuel Jendai said that Chief Minister O Ibobi should resign on moral ground.
Samuel Jendai, also a State executive member of BJP Manipur Pradesh, recently visited Tamenglong district to take a stock of the prevailing developmental works in the district.
"Khongsang-Tamenglong road, which is the lifeline of the people settled in different parts of the district is in a battered condition.
The road which is also a State Highway connecting Tamenglong with the rest of the State is in its worst state due to negligence of the State authorities concerned", alleged Samuel while interacting with The Sangai Express.
He further said that many trucks carrying essential commodities are stranded due to the deplorable road condition.
Such road condition, without a doubt, can be considered as the worst in the entire State.
During medical and other emergency cases, common people have to go through untold sufferings yet the State Government led by O Ibobi confidently claimed that there is development in both the hill districts and valley.

"Visiting Tamenglong will bring a clear picture whether there is development or not in the hill districts.
Since Chief Minister O Ibobi has failed to serve the people, he should resign on moral ground," Samuel asserted.
Due to bad transportation facilities, prices of essential commodities have skyrocketed leading to artificial price rise which directly affects the common masses.
Is it a curse or man-made, quipped the former Minister.
People of Tamenglong have been demanding and pressuring the State Government and the agencies concerned to repair Khongsang-Tamenglong road but the cry of the people has been brushed aside.
The State Government should understand the sentiments of Tamenglong people as the district is a landlocked region and 85 percent of the populace depend on the Government supplies.
If the State Government is not willing to repair the road within a month's time, the road should be declared a public road so that people can repair it.
Developing only Thoubal or other valley districts cannot term Manipur as a developed or developing State, Samuel Jendai stated.
Only when there is development in each and every district, the State can be termed as a developed or developing State.
Such partial attitude of the State Government is the main reason why certain sections of the people in the hill districts are demanding separate administration for the hills.
This circumstance is created by the State Government's incompetence, he alleged.
"When the State Government agencies can black top streets in Thangmeiband and Thongju ACs prior to the by-election last year, why can't the same be done to Khongsang-Tamenglong road?" he asked.
Samuel Jendai said that the elected representative of Tamenglong AC should be responsible enough to provide good transportation and communication facilities.
It is the elected representative's responsibility to heed the grievances and demands of the people.
There is lack of staff members in almost all the State Departments in the district Headquarters including Education, SDO, Electricity and Public Works Department.
It is his duty to look into the matters as it directly or indirectly affects the lives of the people, he said.
