Nephew fires at uncles, hurts two

Imphal, June 30 2015 :
A 38-year-old man chased his two uncles and opened fire on the elderly men injuring them seriously at Naoremthong Khulem Leikai under Lamphel police station at around 3.30 pm today.
According to information culled from the spot, Khulem Jiten (38) allegedly beat up his father Khulem Kendrajit brutally at their residence today.
After hearing the news, Jiten's uncles Khulem Priyobarta (55) and Khulem Krishnamohan (50) s/o (L) Jugeshwor, who are residing at the same locality, came to Jiten's house to intervene into the matter.
However, instead of listening to his uncles advice, Jiten took out his licensed pistol and double barrel gun and not only chased the duo but also opened fire on them injuring the duo seriously.
Priyobarta received bullet injury on his left shoulder while Krishnamohan got two bullet injuries at the abdomen.
Both of them were immediately rushed to Shija hospital after the incident.
Their conditions are stated to be critical.
Soon after the incident, a team of Lamphel police led by SDPO RK Saklemba rushed to the house.
However, Jiten had already escaped before their arrival.
A team of Imphal West police led by Additional SP (Law and Order) S Ibomcha and commando DSP Krishnatombi also came to the locality and conducted a search operation to nab Jiten.
However, there was no report of Jiten's arrest till the time of filing this report.
Police have recovered a double barrel gun along with three live rounds and two bayonets from Jiten's house.
