Health Minister distributes masks, gloves, sanitisers

Imphal, March 31 2020:
Amid COVID-19 outbreak, Health Minister L Jayantakumar has distributed masks, hand gloves and sanitisers to people at Dharmasala, Thangal Bazar today.
Advising people to maintain social/physical distancing and follow the guidelines of the health authority to beat novel coronavirus, the Health Minister said that the State is taking up all measures to contain the virus.
Hand sanitisers, hand gloves and masks were provided to encourage people to practice hygiene and avoid coronavirus, he said adding it was first phase of distribution and more will be distributed later.

He also informed the people that the State has opened quarantine centres at many places and has two laboratories for testing COVID-19 .
Commenting on the first and lone COVID-19 case in the State, he said that the patient at JNIMS is recovering and her condition has improved a lot.
Regarding shortage of PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) at district hospitals, he said that the medical equipment were airlifted recently and have been dispatched to the hospitals through Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) .
