Imphal, December 31 2021: Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president MLA N Loken has stated that Congress has at least 15 candidates who will surely win the Assembly election in their respective Constituencies even if the party fails to secure an absolute majority.

Speaking to media persons at Sangaiprou, the Congress leader extended his New Year greetings to the people of Manipur.

Saying that the underprivileged section of people have been facing great difficulties since BJP came to power in Manipur in 2017, N Loken accused the saffron party of hiking the price of goods and violating the Right to Freedom guaranteed in the Indian Constitution.

"Though BJP is eying to win absolute majority in the Assembly elections, they will not secure more than 16 seats," he said and added that BJP will also not outperform NPF in hill districts.

Congress will emerge as the single largest party if the party can win at least 19 seats, the MPCC chief continued.

Saying that BJP National leaders who have been arriving in Manipur have not announced any new projects/schemes, N Loken maintained that Congress will surely save the people of Manipur from BJP by forming the next Government.

He reminded that Congress won 28 seats in 2017 too, but then Governor invited BJP which secured only 21 to form the Government.

Stating that the incumbent coalition Government doesn't even have any specific name and a common minimum agenda, the Nambol AC MLA said that BJP getting the support of NPP, NPF and their other coalition partners after the election is unlikely.
