Shiv Sena to back women candidates

Shiv Sena has announced that it would be fielding candidates in majority of the assembly constituencies in the upcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, and the party would extend support to women candidates in constituencies where it does not held any candidates.
On Thursday, Shiv Sena national secretary Dilip Paniker warmly felicitated newly joined intending candidates of the party for the Election at the party's Babupara office, here.
Speaking on the occasion, Dilip informed that Shiv Sena is keen on empowering women and as such has been providing numerous opportunities in this regard, including free education for women in Delhi and Tamil Nadu.
He then said that if the party's candidates win the polls, the party would provide jobs to the youth for the development of the state, in addition to lowering the poverty rate and developing more industries.
Stating that one should not forget the suffering of the people after formation of a government, Dilip remarked that the people of the state has been oppressed under AFSPA for over 62 years.
However, Shiv Sena can help revive the stagnated development in the state including improving the poor drainage system, bad road conditions and connectivity.
Meanwhile, the central and the state government has already inked an agreement with regard to Loktak Lake, he mentioned, while stressing the need for proper development of a tourist spot in the area.
Speaking at the event, Shiv Sena Manipur president M Tombi disclosed that the party would extend support to like-minded candidates in constituencies where it would not field candidate.
So far, there are 13 intending candidates of the party and efforts are being made to field more candidates.
He then demanded the central and the state governments to repeal AFSPA immediately, while adding that Shiv Sena, regardless of whether it is BJP, Congress or a coalition government, has been extending support in promoting healthy relationship between the hills and the valley, resolving bandh and blockades and other issues.
The people who newly joined Shiv Sena on Thursday as its intending candidates are Ramnganing Jajo (Saikul), Lalhlunsang Sungte (Thanlon), Ninghor Jajo (Phungyar) and Brojen Ph (Keirao) .
