KANGLAMEI, K1L and CLK have jointly urged private banks which tend money to women vendors and small business persons to stop collecting interest from the Joanees in these trving times of Covid-19 pandemic.
In a joint release, the three organisations pointed out that the government resorted to various preventive measures including imposition of lockdown/curfew from time to time for combating Covid-19 pandemic in the state.
Subsequently, such restrictions drastically affected the economically weaker families, particularly daily wage earners.
In view of the declining Covid-19 positive cases, the government relaxed total curfew but is continuing with night curfew, the release noted, while adding that one should let the guard down on the basis of slight improvement in Covid 19 pandemic situation.
Observing that many economically underprivileged families have started to get complacent in their daily struggle to ensure two square meals a day, the organisations continued that the impact of the pandemic is yet to be overcome.
As such authorities concerned need to monitor activities of private banks or money lenders so as to ensure that the loanees are spared from being subjected to further distress amid the troubling times, the organisations stressed and also urged private banks to stop collecting interest from the poor vendors.
