Intending candidates give poll promises

In connection with the upcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election, many candidates are continuing on with their respective campaigns.
Speaking on the sidelines of inaugurating an election office at Uripok Kabrambam Leikai on Wednesday, Uripok AC intending BJP candidate Khumbongmayum Suresh assured of preventing any instance? of poll violence in the constituency, while expressing belief and trust for the same among the workers and people of Uripok.
He then urged for mutual support and cooperation among the candidates, regardless of who wins the party ticket.
Another Uripok AC intending BJP candidate Khwairakpam Raghumani (retd IAS), during a public meeting organised by Polling Station 10-33 Khwai Singjubung Committee at the residence of one Leitongbam Loken at Singjubung on Wednesday, assured of developing Lamphelpat water body, including the areas surrounding Langol hill ranges into tourist spots and improve the drainage system of Uripok AC.
He also said that he would be opening free coaching classes to help the educated youth of the constituency to become top officers.
He further said that he will try to improve the economic and educational system of the constituency.
Meanwhile, a one-day political conference for Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC intending BJP candidate S Kebi was held at Malom Keithel on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Kebi refuted the allegations levelled against her by other candidates, stating that she has never thought of buying the people's precious votes with money, let alone acting on the same.
She then said that she decided to contest the elections to uplift the status of women and empower them, while also addressing the various shortcomings of the constituency.
On the other hand, Lilong AC intending BJP candidate Anwar Husain has urged for bring about a development- based political atmosphere in the constituency, while stating that only the people can bring about real politics.
Addressing the grand public gathering organised by Anwar Husain Election Management Committee at his residence in Lilong on Tuesday, Anwar urged the denizens of Lilong AC to elect a BJP MLA so as to take part in the changing political scenario of the state and the country.
He then assured of providing jobs to the unemployed youths of the constituency, while urging the people to trust BJP considering the many things it has done for the welfare of Muslim-Pangal minority community in the state.
The gathering also included BJP Thoubal District president Yumnam Kumar jit, ex-speaker Maniruddin Sheikh, pradhan Md Idris Ali, Singjamei AC intending candidate Robert Ngangbam, ex councillors, ex-chairperson Shah Alam and other prominent personalities.
