Digitisation of new records stressed

A three-day 43rd Archives Week Celebration cum Record Exhibition was inaugurated by the Manipur State Archives under the aegis of Department of Arts and Culture at Manipur State Archives Complex in Keishampat here oh Friday.
The inaugural function was attended by Art and Culture commissioner M Joy as chief guest, director K Dinamani Singh as functional president and pioneer N Indramani as guest of honour.
In his speech, Joy stressed the need for analysing the benefits of Archives Week on the society, and assured to gather and expand the existing records with new ones.
He then called for digitisation of the records in view of the changes brought about by modernisation as well as to prevent loss of records, while appreciating the efforts taken up for the same till date.
The commissioner maintained that the items in custody of the State Archives are the legacy of the forefathers.
He lauded the efforts made to preserve the historical administrative records and other materials, while also appreciating the scholars who visit the archives for research purposes.
