Imphal, August 26 2021: CPI Manipur State Council assistant secretary M Joykumar has stressed the need for the government to review cases where people who have been fully vaccinated are testing positive for Covid-19.Joykumar, who is currently undergoing treatment at JNIMS hospital after testing positive for Covid, conveyed to The People's Chronicle that although he had received both doses of theCovid-19 vaccine, he still contracted the virus and as such, has been undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Considering that fully vaccinated people are testing positive for the viral infection despite the claims that the vaccine will help reduce the transmission rate and boost the immune system; Joykumar stressed the need for the government to seriously review the matter.

He further appealed to the government to formulate a policy as pre-emptive measures against the third wave of the pandemic taking into account of the present pandemic scenario in the state.
