Kangpokpi, April 26 2024:
Kuki-Zo populace in Kangpokpi district continued to "abstain" from voting during the second phase of Lok Sabha election held on Friday.
Kangpokpi's neighbouring district, Senapati went to the polls in the 2nd phase of the Lok Sabha election along with few other districts, such as Ukhrul, Tamenglong, Jiribam, Tengnoupal, Kamjong, Noney, and Pherzawl.
Even though Kangpokpi district was enlisted for voting in the first phase, few pockets of Kuki-Zo villages in the district fell under Karong and Tadubi assembly constituency in Senapati district.
No votes were cast by the Kuki-Zo community as they chose to abstain from voting adhering to the directive given by the Kuki's apex body in line with the unified decision of Kuki-Zo CSOs.
However, voters from other communities exercised their franchise peacefully without any hindrance.
