IW pradhan rejects fund released for MGNREGA

Imphal, May 24 2021: Contending that minister Th Biswajit's statement made in media regarding the release of Rs 160 crore under MGNREGA on May 21 was in violation of the agreement reached between representatives of Manipur State Panchayat Parishad and the RD&PR minister on National Panchayat Day (April 24), Imphal West Pradhan A Bishorjit has made it clear that District Panchayat Parishad, Imphal West will not take the said fund.

Bishorjit confided that Rs 650.81 crore was fixed as liability for works taken up in 2020-2021.As the fund released recently was not sufficient for distributing the wages of job card holders, it will surely create conflict among Zilla Parishad, Pradhans, Ward members, line department (MLA concerned) and job card holders.

So, the fund will not be taken, he added.

Pointing out that the fund amounting to Rs 485,50,75,000, which included state matching share, released for MNGNREGA on March 18 by Ministry of RD&PR has not been released till now, Bishorjit demanded the minister concerned to clarify on the matter without delay.
