Imphal, November 22 2021:
A two-day Chief Ministergi Hakselgi Tengbang (CMHT) Card enrollment programme was organised by Social United Clubs' Organisation (SUCO) at TRYSCA Club, Khurai Ningthoubuhg Leikai on Monday.
AMUCO president Phe-iroijam Nando Luwang, Imphal East District United Clubs' Organisation (IEDUCO) president Takhellambam Dwijo Mangang, SUCO advisor Laishram Vivekananda and TRYSCA president Waikhom Jiban Meitei attended the programme as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Nando Luwang.
observed that there are not many local clubs/organisations taking the responsibility for the enrollment process for CMHT cards.
On many occasions, the workers of local MLAs or Zilla Parishad members, pradhan, members and councillors carry out the process for their near or dear ones, or after 'assessing if the potential beneficiary will vote for them.
As the work is being carried out with a political agenda, many deserving people are denied the CMHT cards.
Thus, the poor families face huge difficulties during medical emergencies, whicb are often expensive.
CMHT cards provide the only relief for such families by covering the medical expenses and helping to save precious lives, he added.
Lauding SUCO for its initiative, Nando urged other local clubs/organisations in the state to do the same and help the people avail the benefits of CMHT.
As long as the clubs/organisations exude the determination, politicians cannot undermine interests of the people, he, opined.
Nando further urged the clubs/organisations to rectify the acts of contesting candidates, which are against the interest of the people, instead of trying to nil in their pockets, while appealing to all concerned not to indulge in such acts as AMUCO will not support such behaviour.
