Imphal, January 22 2022:
Reacting to receipt of a legal notice for allegedly making an extortion remark made against NPP intending candidate Laitonjam Jayananda's family members during a political conference recently, INC intending candidate in Khurai AC Kh Ratankumar has strongly called for shifting the battle to the court instead of hurling allegations through the media.
Addressing media persons at his Kangla Sangomsang residence on Saturday, Kh Ratankumar said that the extortion incident occurred while he was discharging his official duty on chilly winter day in 2007."I was called by someone at Khurai Konsam Leikai and some people already waiting there whisked me to a certain location, seemingly a truck workshop, in the evening as many trucks were parked there.
The NPP intending candidate's father too was there and they demanded extortion relating to government programmes and projects but the matter subsided after they came to know that I hail from Khurai and released me unharmed," Ratankumar recalled and claimed of possessing documents which could be of proof and evidences about the incident.
While clarifying that he was not involved in any corruption case while in service and there was no raid by vigilance or by NIA either, Ratankumar said that he had taken up many projects and was even conferred several awards by Government of India for timely execution of government programmes and projects.
