Imphal, May 20 2021:
Apart from condemning the act of smashing of a vehicle which was transporting and distributing relief materials sponsored by Maheshore Thounaojam and thrashing of some volunteers; some women of Thouda Bhabok Leikai have clarified that media report about Maheshore's workers handing over relief materials to an individual's house in the said locality and violation of SOPs were false and not true.
A woman named Selina, who took part in distribution of relief items donated by Maheshore, said that they did not know the said individual's house while distributing the relief materials and there is no reason to hand over same to the house.
It seems that some supporters of the local and his younger brother pre-planned the entire incident and reported wrongly to the media to cover up smashing of the vehicle loaded with relief materials and thrashing of Covid Task Force volunteers, she said.
Asking as to what will happen in future if family members and workers of a person who is trying to contest election indulge in goondaism from now onwards, Selina appealed to all concerned not to repeat such acts in future.
She further said that there should not be any politics at this hour of Covid induced health crisis and should not cause disturbance to distribution of relief materials by Maheshore Thounaojam.
Meanwhile, Aheibam Leirak Women Welfare Association president Thangjam Dhaneshori told media persons on Thursday evening that it was very unfortunate that workers of an intending candidate from Thouda Bhabok Leikai disturbed the relief material distribution by Maheshore Thounaojam amidst the pandemic.
