'Chronicles of Boro Bhuya' released

Imphal, January 19 2022:
A book on ancestral history of Buya Mayum and Yangkhubam clans of the state, titled Chronicles of Boro Bhuya' authored jointly by Buya Mayum Shaheeduz Zamari and Buya Mayum Mumtaj Ali was released during a function held at Hotel Imphal, North AOC here on Wednesday.
The programme was attended by titular king and Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba as chief guest and Safiallah as president, while Lilong Haoreibi College principal Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh, eminent historian Prof N Joykumar, Manipur State Archives deputy director Md Abul Kalam, historian Dr Badar and DM College ol Arts History Department assistant professor Dr Syed Ahmed were present as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, MP Leishemba Sanajaoba termed as historic step for Meitei Muslims that a book on the ancestral history of two clans of Manipuri Muslims, Buya Mayum and Yangkhubam, has been released.
There are limited books on Manipuri Muslims and as such release of the book containing history of the two Muslim clans is very praiseworthy, he added.
The MP exhorted that other clans of Muslims to retrace their ancestral history and publish their findings as books.
It will ensure that the next generation knows the history of Muslims in Manipur, he opined.
As a part of the programme, Dr Syed Ahmed presented a critical review of the book.
