Kakching, February 18 2025:
A one-day free heart (Echo) screening camp was organised at Community Health Centre (CHC), Kakching on Tuesday, benefiting 94 individuals.
The camp was jointly conducted by the District Health Society, Kakching, Manipur Heart Foundation, and Sky Hospital Research Centre, Imphal, providing essential tests such as ECG, Echo, and blood sugar screening.
Speaking at the camp, chief cardiologist and chairman of Sky Hospital Research Centre, Dr L Shyamkishore, highlighted the growing prevalence of heart disease and the importance of early detection for successful treatment.
He stated that the camp was aimed at identifying heart conditions at an early stage and providing necessary medical guidance.
Dr Shyamkishore further noted that Sky Hospital had been conducting similar camps across the state every year.
However, these initiatives had been put on hold for the past three to four years since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
The resumption of the screening camps marks a renewed commitment to providing healthcare services, with plans to organise similar camps in different parts of the state, including accessible hill areas.
Apart from heart disease screening, the camp also offered free screening for hypertension and diabetes.
Dr Shyamkishore urged the public to take advantage of such camps to ensure early diagnosis and better management of health conditions.
