World Hospice and Palliative Care Day held

The World Hospice and Palliative Care Day-2024 observance was jointly organised by National Programme for Palliative Care (NPPC) and District Health Society (DHS), Thoubal under the aegis of National Health Mission at the CMO office complex, Thoubal Wangmataba on Tuesday.
The function organised under the theme "Ten Year's Since the Resolution: How Are We Doing" was attended by Thoubal CMO Dr Y Nokul and NPCC DHS, Thoubal district nodal officer Dr Thuingaren Sareo as chief guest and president respectively, while NP-NCD, Thoubal district nodal officer Dr M Bikramjit and DHS, Thoubal programme manager Ch Basanta were the guests of honour.
Delivering the keynote address, district programme manager Ch Basanta highlighted that observance of World Hospice and Palliative Care Day is endorsed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) aimed at raising awareness about the critical role of hospice and palliative care, particularly in providing comfort and dignity to individuals living with life-limiting illnesses.
Meanwhile, Dr Y Nokul pointed out the importance of caring for the elderly, lis tening to their concerns and acknowledging their contributions to society.
He also stressed the need to ensure that elderly individuals have access to healthcare and diagnostic services available in government healthcare settings.
As a part of the observance, blankets were distributed to patients under palliative care.
