NABARD celebrates 43rd foundation day

NABARD Manipur Regional Office (R0), Imphal celebrated its 43rd foundation day at the Classic Grande Hotel, here, on Monday with participation of guests and stakeholders who have contributed significantly to development of the state's rural sector.
According to a statement issued by NABARD RO Manipur, the celebration held with Manipur University vice-chancellor professor N Lokendra as chief guest, was also attended by registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS) Valentina Arambam, ICAR NER-Manipur head Dr Ramgopal Laha, Kh Okendro Singh of SBI, who is also the convenor of SLBC Manipur, Punjab National Bank, Manipur circle head Manasij Chakrabarti, Naveen Kha khlary from RBI Manipur, and Manipur Rural Bank chairman Abhay Kumar.
The event began with lighting of the ceremonial lamp and a cake-cutting ceremony.
Delivering the welcome address, GM/OiC Partha Mandal acknowledged the contributions of various stakeholders in promoting rural growth in Manipur and also presented a brief account on NABARD's origins, evolution and impact of the Self-Help Group (SHG) movement, development of microfinance in India, importance of Kisan Credit Card (KCC) and NABARD's contributions to agricultural credit as well as initiatives, achievements, and future strategies despite challenges like ethnic conflicts and natural disasters.
In their addresses, Valentina Arambam commended NABARD for its role in fostering the cooperative sector nationally and in the state as well while emphasising the significance of PACS Computerisation as professor N Lokendra lauded NABARD for its pivotal role in rural development since the 1980s, particularly through the SHG movement which has significantly empowered women.
He also highlighted the potential for collaboration between research and development sectors, with NABARD playing a transformative role in advancing rural India.
Other dignitaries shared their experiences and expressed gratitude to NABARD for its collaborative efforts in rural development.
NABARD RO Manipur DGM Bendang Aier appreciated all stakeholders for their dedicated service and collaboration with NABARD besides paying homage to the visionaries who shaped NABARD into its current form.
