Imphal, May 15 2022:
A one-day discussion session on 'importance of building good relationship among lyricists, singers and music composers' was organised by Artistes Training cum Educational Research Centre (ATERC) at Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU) auditorium, Yaiskul Police Lane, here on Sunday.
Former AMMIK president Dr Hamom Nabachandra and ATERC president Sobita Soubam attended programme as chief guest and president respectively while AIR Imphal lyricist MA Jabbar and North East Women Entrepreneurs' Association president Kangabam Bijaya Chanu were present as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Nabachandra underscored the importance of having good communication among the three components required in the creation of a song as both the composer and singer need to understand the idea that the lyricist is putting in the lyrics in order to bring out a good song.
For instance, one may write a song with all of his emotions but by not understanding those emotions, the music composer can come up with a song which could not reflect the emotion in the song, he said.
ATERC general secretary Okendro Khundongbam said that the organisation felt the need to have a good relationship among the three components and organising the event does not necessarily mean that they do not have such good relationship.
However, there seem to be a trend in which the lyricist does all the hard work of hiring the music composer & singer as well as the ground works for production, but once the song became popular, the lyricist is often relegated in the background and it could be disheartening for them, he said.
