AR observes Universal Health Coverage Day

In commemoration of Universal Health Coverage Day, Assam Rifles organised a series of impactful initiatives focused on healthcare and community awareness in Chandel and Churachandpur districts, highlighting its commitment in bridging the healthcare gap in remote and conflict-affected areas while addressing pressing social issues.
According to PRO IGAR (S), on Thursday a mega medical eamp under Operation Sadbhavana was conducted at Behiang village in.Churachandpur district in collaboration with the primary health centre, Behiang and the district hospital, Singhat.
A senior eye specialist conducted examinations, dental surgeon emphasised oral health and an informative session by sub-district hospital medical officer in-charge Dr Steve Tuninung on government healthcare schemes.
The camp benefited 532 villagers.
Simultaneously, a medical camp was organised at Hengshi village in Chandel district, bringing essential healthcare services to 112 villagers.
The camp offered complimentary medical consultations and medicines while promoting health awareness and personal hygiene.
In addition to healthcare efforts, Assam Rifles conducted an awareness lecture on mental health and drug abuse at Kachinbung village in Chandel district with the attendance of 53 villagers during which growing concerns about mental health and substance abuse were addressed.
Assam Rifles personnel highlighted the importance of early recognition and intervention for mental health issues, fostering a supportive community environment while combating drug addiction through education and rehabilitation pathways.
