AMMOCOC appeals for release of captives

All Manipur Muslim Organisations' Coordinating Committee (AMMOCOC) has urged for the release of the six Meetei individuals, including three children, abducted by Hmar-Kuki militants, on humanitarian grounds.
Addressing media persons at his Hatta residence, here, on Wednesday, AMMOCOC president SM Jalal decried the abduction of the three children and three women, of a family by Hmar-Kuki militants in Jiribam, stating that the incident has heightened unrest and anxiety among the people of Manipur.
He appealed to the militants to release the six hostages on humanitarian grounds and called on the state government to ensure their safe return.
The president also recalled that Kuki individuals abducted by the Meetei community, were released unharmed with the Kukis also reciprocating the noble gesture by setting The same humane gesture should also be shown for the Meetei individuals currently in captivity," he reasoned.
Jalal lamented that the crisis since May 3 last year has led to the loss of many lives and widespread destruction of properties, terming the endless violence as one of the most tragic and devastating chapters in the state's history.
Amid the present crisis, the Muslim community has been praying and urging the authorities to take action to end the violence, he added.
