AMESTA hopes positive changes under new officer

All Manipur Elementary School Teachers' Association (AMESTA) has expressed hope that the education sector in Manipur would improve significantly with the appointment of former director education (S) M Harekrishna as commissioner of education.
A statement of AMESTA said that M Harekrishna is an officer who tried his level best to take government schools and students to higher level while he was the director of education (S) .
Harekrishna also took the responsibility of opening one model school each in every district and assembly constituencies during his previous tenure as the director.
Apart from this, Harekrishna had personally inspected various government schools to bring improvement and even formed a committee to give new lease of life to weak government schools and devised a policy to improve weak students, the statement said, while adding that it was very fortunate for the state that an officer with such sincerity and dignity has been handed the post of commissioner (education).
Welcoming appointment of Harekrishna to the post, AMESTA also thanked chief minister N Biren Singh and the education minister for appointing the officer to the post.
