Cops briefed on new criminal laws

Thoubal, February 12 2025:
Under the aegis of Manipur State Legal Services Authority, District Legal Services Authority, Thoubal organised a one-day sensitisation cum workshop programme on "New Criminal Laws" for investigating officers and police officers at the conference hall of Superintendent of Police, Kakching district on Wednesday.
The programme was attended by Samom Ibjen, District & Sessions Judge, Thoubal cum chairman DLSA, Thoubal; Kakching SP Thokchom Vikramjit Singh; Dr Laishram Rina Devi, CJM Thoubal cum in-charge secretary, DLSA.
Thoubal; Romendro Singh, Addl SO (Law & Order), Kakching; Neera Sinam, JMFC Kakching; and investigating officers and police officers from various police stations of Kakching district.
Delivering the keynote speech, Judge Samom Ibjen said that police play an important role in maintaining law and order, while stressing the need for investigating officers and police officers to be well aware of the new criminal laws.
During the programme, Thoubal CJM Dr Laishram Rina Devi spoke on the topic "Procedure for Arrest under the New Criminal Laws" and JMFC Kakching Neera Sinam on "Procedure for Search and Seizure including Videography" as resource persons.
Later, an interaction programme between the resource persons and investigating officers and police officers was held.
