Mirabai Chanu joins HGT campaign, plantation drive

143 Bn CRPF of IGP M&N Sector organised Har Ghar Tiranga and tree plantation drive at its Lamphelpat headquarters on Thursday with Commonwealth Game weightlifting gold medallist Saikhom Mirabai Chanu attending as a special guest.
Briefly speaking at the event, CRPF Manipur & Nagaland Sector IGP Sandeep Datta welcomed and congratulated Mirabai Chanu on winning gold medal at the recently held Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham and also highlighted the importance of the tricolour and efforts of the CRPF to make the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign successful.
The event was also attended by DIG DK Tripathi, 143 commandant Lamkhokam Lhoujem, CMO (SG) Dr Narenda Kumar, second in com mands Akhilesh Kumar Yadav and K Sonny Singh, deputy commandants Amaree Prasad and Santosh Singh.
Mirabai Chanu also did her part in the tree plantation programme by planting a tree sapling.
Speaking on the occasion, the champion weightlifter stressed On the importance of national flag and how it encouraged her to give her best in all competitions.
Mirabai also encouraged all to join Har Ghar Tiranga campaign to be held from August 13 to 15 as part of the celebration of 75th year of India's independence.
Meanwhile, in connection with its 166th foundation anniversary and celebration of the upcoming 76th year of India's independence, India Bank felicitated Birmingham Commonwealth Games gold medallist Saikhom Mirabai Chanu by presenting memento and gifts at her Nongpok Kakching residence on Thursday.
The programme was attended by Indian Bank, Guwahati zonal office manager Chandraneshor Goswami and Manipur Olympic Association general secretary Sunil Elangbam among others.
