Jiribam, September 10 2021:
While charging NHIDCL officials of undermining numerous complaints including written ones submitted for repairing dilapidated portions of the NH-37 road (Imphal-Jiribam), All Jiribam RoadTransport and Drivers Union (AJRTDU) demanded action against NHIDCL.
According to an AJRTDU president M Tombabu, top officials of NHIDCL had been repeatedly apprised about poor condition of some sections of the Imphal-Jiribam road and even pin-pointed areas susceptible to vehicle operators.
Written complaint in this regard was also made but none of the NHIDCL officials responded positively so far, Tombabu said and cautioned that drivers operating along the highway would launch steering off strike from September 25 if the government fails to instruct NHIDCL officials in this regard.
Addressing media persons in the pres ence of drivers at Jiribam railway station, Babupara on Friday, Tombabu stressed as many vehicles transporting essential items from outside and those coming from Imphal often get stuck in the middle of NH-37 road the state government should look into the matter seriously.
As NHIDCL was handed responsibility to look after the road, the government must issue strict instruction to the NHIDCL officials to repair bad portions of the road at the earliest, he demanded.
