Imphal, January 10 2025:
Liwachangning Village Authority (LVA) and the Church Centenary Celebration Planning Committee has strongly condemned the criminal act of vandalising the memorial stone erected in remembrance of the first Christian converts and the first church of Liwachangning Baptist Church, Chandel, as part of the Church Centenary Celebration on December 13 and 14, 2024, by unknown miscreants.
According to a release issued by LVA chief/chairman and Church Centenary Celebration Planning Committee chairman, the monument was erected at the site earlier known as Liwa Machet/Liwa Khunou where the first Monsang settlers established the village and also embraced Christianity.

The said site is well within the village land boundary, it stated.
The release further informed that the foundation of the monument has been totally smashed and the monument stone measuring approximately 3x5' was uprooted, taken away and is untraceable.
Such deliberate act secretly carried out with mala fide intention is a direct affront not only to the sentiments of the villagers but is also a grievous sacrilege to the church and the memories of the first Christian converts which calls for condemnation in the strongest term by all, it reiterated.
