Wangkhei MLA assures improved water supply

Wangkhei MLA Th Arunkumar has said that drinking water problem in the assembly constituency will be addressed at least to some extent in the coming three months.
Arunkumar gave this assurance after inspecting water supply schemes and reservoirs in different parts of Wangkhei AC on Saturday.
He inspected water supply scheme at Ningthem Pukhri Mapal, Golapati water treatment plant and Lainingthou Awangba water supply scheme.
Arunkumar told media persons on the sidelines of the inspection that people of Wangkhei AC have been facing drinking water problem for a long time and accordingly he raised this issue in the state assembly recently and the CM assured of mitigating drinking water problem soon.
According to Arunkumar, the inspection was primarily to assess quality and progress of the ongoing water supply projects and most of the projects inspected on Saturday could be completed within three months and accordingly start supplying drinking water to the people.
He also said that decongestion of drainage system in Wangkhei AC, which remained unattended for a long time, has begun and could be completed before the rainy reason.
He then appealed to people to support the ongoing drainage cleaning works.
