School building renovated, medical camp conducted

The 44 Assam Rifles of 22 Sector AR/IGAR (East) has revamped the building of Primary School of Upper Dikhuiram village, which is located close to the banks of Barak River and is around 22 km away from Tamei sub-divisional headquarters.
A release informed that the renovated school was inaugurated by 44 AR commandant on Wednesday as part of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav event and handed over it to the school authorities.
On this occasion, the battalion commandant along with school principal, village chief planted a sapling each in the school premises.
During the programme, students along with other attendees were given a glimpse of vivid culture of India through cultural dance performance by the soldiers, it added.
The 44 AR also organised a one day mega medical camp under the theme Ayush Ka Amrut' at Lamlaba village, Tamei sub-division on Wednesday, as a part of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav initiative for celebrating 75 years of Independence.
In a release, AR stated that the battalion in collaboration with pastor of the village church roped in the service of five doctors and medicines distributed medicines to doorsteps of the locals.
The district medical staff from Tamenglong and Tamei including a women doctor and battalion doctors provided medical assistance to the villagers as well as distributed free medicines.
On the sidelines of the medical camp, Covid awareness and various protocols to be followed were also shared with the attendees in the form of posters, cut outs and banners, it added.
